Laptop screens are very thin as they use liquid crystals to display everything you see on the screen. The laptops screen still remains one of the most expensive things a laptop consist of and as their prices go down so do the laptop prices.

The thing about LCD laptops is that they're very hard to make and a lot of them don't make it through the development process. The better the manufacturers get the more prices will drop as they take into account the ones that were defect when selling the ones that weren't as they of course have to make profit.

Laptop screens also come in a variety of sizes from small 10'' to huge 17'' screens. Take into account the bigger the screen the heavier your laptop will be. I recommend 14'' laptops as you can pretty much have a great screen and 14'' tend to be pretty light nowdays.
